skbuff memory allocation?

I was wondering if there was any thought into having a routine to associate the data buffer of the skbuff at a later time and possibly allocated by someone else?

For example a ethernet driver would allocate the memory buffers and as it parses its buffer descriptors it would associate the data payloads with skbuff at that time.

Thanks
