   No, there is no such mechanism neither in 2.4 nor in 2.5 .
   We tried it out to get our first patch (new net_device feature 
   NETIF_F_SHARED_IPV6 ...)
   in 2.4 kernel but without success. 

It didn't get accepted because I wanted someone to go through
the process of making sure the IPV6 standardization group had
no problems with the things you guys are doing.

So if that hasn't been done still, composing yet another patch
to effectively do the same thing won't be accepted either.
