I can't do that, unfortunately... All VTs are completely unresponsive
once I run this program. I have reproduced this problem with 2.4.2,
2.4.18 (two different machines), 2.4.19 and 2.4.20.

This looks very strange to me. The application code is perfectly
correct as far as I am able to determine.
