Are you running DHCP or PPP on them? Running dynamic routing daemons? Losing
does mean the default route does not show in "route"/"ip route" output?

Any dmesg output?

You might want to run "ip monitor all" into a log file and see if only the
route disappear or if alos the device is taken down (which will delete the
routes)
