Hi, I want to test the PPPoE setup from linux. In a ethernet LAN, i have the access concentrator running ( its IP is 192.168.100.4 say ) and it provides services of name say "String1" and "string2". This is a third party PPPoE access concentrator configured. Now from the same LAN, from a linux machine i want to initiate a PPPoE session with the access concentrator. How can i do that from linux. I dont have any modem setup to do this ( i dont think it required in my case since everything in same ethernet lan. It worked from windows too ). I have roaring PPPoE installed and i did the steps mentioned in roaring pppoe site for configuration. Also i haven't enabled the firewall and dont have my ethernet card configured with a IP address. When i say "adsl-start" after configuration it is not connecting. It is getting timed out. I feel the configuration is the problem. How to actually do a connect in this setup. I have the PPP username and password which i have configured in /etc/ppp/pap-secrets and sameway for chap too. What i need to do, how exactly i can do a connect. I tried adsl-connect too, but it didn't worked for me. Kindly help me.
