binding socket to wilcard and ip address

hello list. this is a silly question, but it has me confused. i
was wondering if there is any reason why an application that
binds to the INADDR_ANY v4 address, should also bind to all the
addresses in its interface list. the ntp code does this, and i
was wondering if there are any advantages in doing this. maybe
it has something to do with addresses being added and deleted???
any help is appreciated.

br, vijay
