HowTo: Set up SMTP proxy to filter attachments?

Dear subscribers.

I would like to set up an SMTP proxy using a Linux installation (SuSE 8.0,
kernel 2.4.18) to filter incomming e-mails before they reach the users'
mailboxes. The Linux box will be put right behind the firewall, i.e. all
incomming Internet traffic will be routed through it, at least for port 25.

What I would like to be able to do is to set up filter rules for e-mail
attachments based on the MIME type and/or file extension. The idea is to
keep out virus attachments, executables etc. Is there a tool availiable for
Linux that would let me do this?

Kind regards, Ola Theander
