calling connect() or bind() for recv. multicast sockets?

Hello,

in "UNP, Vol.1" from R.W.Stevens I've read on page 505 to call bind() for a
reciving multicast socket (in order to recive only multicast package instead
of additional udp packages). Is it euqivalent to call connect() (UNP, Vol.1,
p. 224) for that udp socket (because to get it 'connected')? A connected udp
socket should only recive packages from the address specified in the
connect().

with best regards,
Oliver
