External router testing with only one PC

Hi,

I'd like to test a router using a single linux box with 2 NICs... The problem is that whenever I ping one of the NIC, IP packets go directly to the local "lo" devices and I did not find a way to configure the routes to make it use another the second interface.

I've seen a post describing this problem but there was no satisfying answers to it. So is there a way to have it done or not ? May be there can exist a special "ping" utility that allow to define the outgoing interface whatever the kernel says ...

Thanks a lot for help :)

Eric
