outbound queue overflow

I wonder where in the Linux networking code, we can see if outgoing
packets are
dropped due to lack of buffer space (full queue). In particular,
IP->ETH.
I looked e.g. at   dev_queue_xmit in net/core/dev.c
but could not find out if this is the right place to look at.

Hope anybody can give me a helping hint
