Binding a socket with a local address NOT of my machine

Hi

I need to send packets with a local IP address which is not one of my
interface addresses. The "bind" call on the socket will fail if I try this.
Is it possible at all? Does the kernel code need to be changed to not return
an error on the "bind" in order to do this? Or is it not as simple as that?

TIA
Talmon
