This is quite simple with Linux if you have support for ip aliasing
built into the kernel you are using.  If you don't then you must
recompile the kernel, and that is beyond the scope of this list.

Other than that, you perform a `ifconfig` statement just as you do with
a normal eth(n) device, except that you refer to distinct aliases, for
each extra IP address.
exa.
ifconfig eth0:1 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0
