8 port serial cards

Hi All,

I recently baught myself a PC COM 8 Port Serial card... While having
previously worked with their older ISA modules, I was quite keen on
getting my hands on the new PCI versions of these cards...

Unfortunately, to my surprise, it is plug'n'pray cards... *shucks*.

Well, Now I can't set the card up... :( Any help will be apprecaited

The serial ports is on the system, however, setserial shows the following:

/dev/ttyS17, UART: unknown, Port: 0x0108, IRQ: 12

As far as I can see, the only thing wrong, is the UART, so I do a
setserial /dev/ttyS17 UART 166550, and my kernel complains?!?!

kernel: LSR safety check engaged

What does this mean??????????????? The moment I try to change any of the
8 ports (for the UART), the kernel complains?? Once the safety check was
enabled, I also cannot change the port without rebooting my system??

Any help is *MUCH* appreciated, and desparetly needed..

Thanks
