Create a symbolic link that points from the serial port that is connected to the 
modem to /dev/modem.  

i.e.
If your modem is connected to the first serial port, then:

ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/modem

I have to work with minicom, but when I started it it gives /dev/modem doesn't
exist error. How can I MAKEDEV modem device?
