I have this problem many times my network practically slows to a crawl. I ahve a mixed windwos linux network with 6 linux machines and about 12 windows clients. Recently I decided to upgrade to 100mbps and installed REALTEK 8139 10/100 cards in all of the machines. I haven't yet changed the hubs to 100mbps so I am still using 10mbps cards. Interestingly ping speeds are still good about 0.3/0.4 but if I try to transfer a file it really crawls. - : send the line "unsubscribe linux-net" in the body of a message to majordomo@vger.kernel.org
