Source-based routing tools (eg ping).

It looks like all the versions of ping that I can find do not
support binding to a local interface, which would make ping and
source-based routing work.

Any idea how hard it would be to make ping bind to a local interface
(I know the system calls, just not sure of protocol implications...)

Does anyone know of a collection of tools that allow binding to
specific local interfaces so that source-based routing can be
used?
