You'd figure someone would make a nice file transfer server that
either runs under Apache (so if you had SSL working, you could
benefit from secure transfers) or is it's own HTTP server.  The HTTP
1.1 protocol allows transfers and, unlike FTP, doesn't have too many
issues with tunneling (runs on a single port).

Hmmm, sounds like a neat project at least.

P.S.  I currently use Zope to accomplish something similiar, but I
had to write some of my own methods (which are crappy/simple ones at
that).
