Hi, I am using a 2.4 kernel (all of these kernels seems to have the same problem). Everything was compiled with 2.4 headers, I am using the latest version of all the required software. I tried compiling with diffrent versions of GCC and Glibc, same results. The problem is the folowing: If I use a 2.4 kernel and anything related to networking, login takes about 1 minute to accept a password. In the listing that top gives me, the process doing this is login itself but it's not using CPU ressources...so it seems to be in some kind of deadlock or waiting for someting...This problem is fixed if I use a 2.2 kernel, even if used with the software compiled with 2.4 headers. If I don't set up my loopback and eth0, everything is fine, even with 2.4. My network card is a 3com 3C905 (Vortex/Boomrang driver), my kernel is monolithic. Thank you. --------------------------------------------------- Get free personalized email at http://www.iname.com - : send the line "unsubscribe linux-net" in the body of a message to majordomo@vger.rutgers.edu
