The iproute utilities are for advanced routing, almost certainly far
to advanced for the sorts of things you'll probably want to know
about.

If you are very new to TCP/IP networking, then you need to cover a
fair wack of knowledge before you would be able to understand what
they are all about.

For most purposes, all you need to do is stick with the basics:

	/sbin/ifconfig
	/sbin/route
	/sbin/ipchains

When the time comes when you need to do complex routing on linux
boxes (like using multiple routing tables, route on fwdmark/TOS,
shape bandwidth, and manage packet queueing), then it will be time
for you to delve into this stuff.

But if you are adventurous, then simply ignore what I'm saying and
get into it!  :)
