Yes, thanks for pointing out.
This patch series is based on 'for-next' branch of SPI tree repo [1].
Actually, I got confused with the Makefile content and that's why mentioned in comment as "Rebase on top of v5.0-rc1", sorry for confusion.
	VERSION = 5
	PATCHLEVEL = 0
	SUBLEVEL = 0
	EXTRAVERSION = -rc1
