Is your Kubuntu 14.04 64 bits?
Is your Ubuntu 10.04 32 bits?
If the answer to both of those questions is "yes", then, it happens because DOSEmu in 64 bits has to emulate the instructions for 16 bits, that's not a limitation of DOSEmu but the hardware; if that speed is important to you then reinstall Kubuntu 14.04 in 32 bits instead.
    Bye!

Hi,
not sure if I am using the right mail-address here.
I installed dosemu 1.4.0.8 as found in the repository of Kubuntu 14.04. I am using a thinkpad with 2,6Ghz dual-core. But now I found out, that may old TP with 1,6Ghz single Processor Ubuntu 10.04 and dosemu 1.4.0.1 is around 3 times faster !! even with this obsolete HW. Doing a query at my old DOS-database, it uses with the 'fast' system around 12s, where the old configuration needs only 4s. I am wondering, if dosemu 1.4.0.8 may be the culprit, or if Dosemu has problems with this dual-core processor or with that new linux-kernel. I did not yet try to install 1.4.0.1 manually, to check if the dosemu version may be the culprit.

Thanks and regards
