Well, in the first place, sincere thanks for your reply (and also thanks to the others who replied, whose messages I still have to digest). It seems that while development of dosemu has stopped, the list is still very much alive. But.. jws@vega:~$ ls -ld /dev/shm drwxrwxrwt 3 root root 60 2006-09-19 17:24 /dev/shm The permissions seem the same.
