Can you do me a favor and file a Bugzilla on bugzilla.kernel.org? There's a module-init-tools component in there under "Other", as noted in the latest versions of the docs. There's another bug on there I created for a problem with elfops and zlib compression, so I have a bunch of poking coming up anyway.
