This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled drivers/base/memory.c: clean up relics in function parameters to the 4.19-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: drivers-base-memory.c-clean-up-relics-in-function-parameters.patch and it can be found in the queue-4.19 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From foo@baz Tue 28 Jan 2020 02:32:10 PM CET From: David Hildenbrand <david@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Tue, 28 Jan 2020 10:50:04 +0100 Subject: drivers/base/memory.c: clean up relics in function parameters To: stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: linux-mm@xxxxxxxxx, Michal Hocko <mhocko@xxxxxxxx>, Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, Andrew Morton <akpm@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, "Aneesh Kumar K . The input parameter 'phys_index' of memory_block_action() is actually the section number, but not the phys_index of memory_block. This is a relic from the past when one memory block could only contain one section. Rename it to start_section_nr. And also in remove_memory_section(), the 'node_id' and 'phys_device' arguments are not used by anyone. Remove them.
