Hello,

I merged memory compaction v7 from Mel, plus his latest incremental updates

A quick benchmark, running 'sort -b 1200M /tmp/largerand > /dev/null'. The file is 1GB in size, consisting of 15-char base64 encoded random string + newline records.

4k:

  real 2m28.155s
  user 2m21.560s
  sys 0m6.457s

2M:

  real 2m19.626s
  user 2m13.771s
  sys 0m5.812s

A 6% improvement.

I'll try running this with a kernel build in parallel.
