Hi folks,
it is very sad for me to see so many political nonsenses here, therefore I need to express my view as a newbie here and a long time Linux user.
I understand the standing of Linus, but sanction against a certain group of people is unbeneficial for open-source projects: at one hand it is technically impossible to stop them effectively from obtaining the new code and keeping “hitchhiking” the ecosystem(think how North Korea develop their own distribution and produce smartphones which probably also use Linux kernel), on the other hand the upstream repo and community will probably permanently lost their contribution.
I think Linus and Greg need to reestablish the trust that their own political standing won’t jeopardize the free essence of the Kernel, and the community need to start considering how to defend the critical elements like Kernel of the digital world from political pressures (whoever do it) and keep them free as the air.
Thanks,
A Linux user
