well It looks like this is a "diversity" card, which seems to be a way of combining the two tuners, and is not supported on linux. The fact I can use one, or the other, but not both of the tuners makes this sound like a likely culprit. But all the documentation I can find seems to suggest this not being supported merely means you cant combine the tuners - but can still run fine with 2. I wonder if in this case I can't uncombine them...and how I could check if diversity mode is on or off...
