There is one, now that you asked. It's not a buffer type but format.

In video calls the resolution of the video frames need to be changed,
along with the frame rate, depending on the quality of the link, for
example.

In this case it's important to know which format a dequeued frame has.
The alternative is to stop streaming, reconfigure and start it again,
but this leads to lost frames. The hardware can do this so I don't think
the interface should prevent it.
