I have been able to make it working using "em28xx-new" driver patched for 2.6.30 kernel Thanks Oravecz Csaba for help At least I don't receive I/O error when reading from /dev/dsp2 But for that I needed to build frankenstein openSUSE 11.1 which runs quite unstable What has been done: ------------ 1. I used old and no longer suported openSUSE 11.1 (comes with 2.6.27 kernel) 2. upgraded kernel to 2.6.30 from openSUSE 11.2 repository 3. upgraded ALSA to 1.0.23 from openSUSE 11.3 repository 4. install kernel-headers kernel-devel gcc kernel-source 5. cd /usr/src/linux 6. make clean; make oldconfig; make prepare; make scripts 7. download em28xx-new-pathed2.6.30 8. extract and modify build.sh: find if [ "$1" = "build" ]; then add after: make SDIR='/usr/src/linux/' default save file 9. run build.sh build 10. run build.sh install 11. reboot 12. plug your USB 13. run build.sh load 14. /dev/video0 and /dev/dsp2 appeared This time audio capture device looks like: Em28xx Audio2 Done ----------------- Before I made it working I had a lot of different errors, like: FATAL: Error inserting em28xx (/lib/modules.2.5.30.2-default/empia/em28xx.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) em28xx: disagrees about version of symbol v4l_compat_translate_ioctl ... and a lot of similar lines I have tried using experemental patched precompiled kernel module for 2.6.34 kernel from SUSE build server: https://build.opensuse.org/package/files?package=em28xx-new&project=home%3ANicoK%3Adrivers But this driver causes machine reboot immediately after opening tvtime. There are already multiple threads in this mail list that em28xx-new must be ported to new kernels, ex: http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-media@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/msg20408.html Until that most devices listed in WIKI under "Not Validated boards" most probably will not work. For this reason WIKI page should be updated too (to cool down users' expectations). I hope this info helps Regards, tosiara On Sun, Mar 13, 2011 at 19:03, wim delvaux <wim.delvaux@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > similar problem with pinnacle dazzle tv hybrid > > lsusb : ID eb1a:2881 eMPIA Technology, Inc.
