Hello,
I have a strange problem with my DVBSky S960 DVB-S2 USB device
(lsusb.log). A few years ago, when the original dvbsky drivers were
still maintained, the device worked perfectly fine and it still does for
me when using Windows. However, it fails with the mainline Linux driver.
Sometimes, it seems as if the firmware is not loaded correctly into the
device (dvbsky_1.log) and I cannot tune to some channel at all.
Sometimes I can tune perhaps one or two times to different channels and
then the device somehow breaks (dvbsky_2.log, I modified the debug
messages a bit so that I can see which function of m88ds3103.c fails).
Unplugging and replugging again does not help. Only a complete restart
helps, then, I can, in best case, tune to a few channels until it breaks
again. However, what is quite interesting, when using it in Windows and
then rebooting to Linux without unplugging it, it sometimes also works
perfectly fine, even for hours and even when tuning to hundreds of
channels. Vice versa, if I have it "running" on Linux, rebooting without
unplugging to Windows, it does not work either. Replugging then helps
and it runs on Windows. I use Vanilla Linux kernel v6.2.8 on Fedora 37.
I have had the problem for many years now, on different computers, so
there seems to be no correlation.
