[PATCH 2/2 v2] soc-camera: convert to the new mediabus API

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Convert soc-camera core and all soc-camera drivers to the new mediabus
API. This also takes soc-camera client drivers one step closer to also be
usable with generic v4l2-subdev host drivers.

---

There goes another mega-patch convert everyone-and-their-mother to the new
world rules. I think, in the future I'll really try to make a migration
path for such cases to be able to convert drivers one by one. There really
too many of them in the meantime for such global conversions. Otherwise,
not much to say. For the biggest part this conversion shouldn't affect
functionality. However, there are a couple of exceptions, where this
transition also brought some improvements with it. Notably,
sh_mobile_ceu_camera had its size calculations fixed, mt9t031 now also
exports SGRBG10 instead of SBGGR10, which makes it more compatible with
standard user-space tools, like mplayer and gstreamer, which prefer that
format. Even though its matrix differ from that of mt9v022 and mt9m001
(colour variant), at least according to the datasheet, it is easier to
select a different starting pixel using cropping, than to teach all those
tools all four Bayer variants.

All in all - please review and test. I tested this on 4 platforms with 5
clients. ap325rxa, i.MX1, mt9m111, mt9t031, ov9640 and soc-camera_platform
escaped my tests.

Paul, I had to modify ap325rxa, because it is using soc_camera_platform.
Would need your ack for that trivial hunk.

Obviously, it depends on

[PATCH 1/2 v3] v4l: add a media-bus API for configuring v4l2 subdev pixel
and frame formats

submitted yesterday.

Thanks
Guennadi
