Thanks for the update.

A number of patches you've sent lately have arrived twice in slightly
different form. If that happens, could you reply and tell which one is the
right one, please?

Please remove the typecast, you won't need that.

And also split the line, it's over 80 characters.

ret and retry would be better declared after tx_data (return values,
temporary and loop variables generally go last).
