You can't transfer data in the buffer_queue handler is that function can't sleep. If you make the format chip-specific, the computation should be generic as well. It's very hard at this time to know how much genericity should be expected from similar sensors. Freeing data in the remove operation is a bad idea, as your driver will crash if the device is unbound from the driver during video streaming.
