Regression testing has highlighted the 885/7/8 detection isn't reliable, causing a regression for HVR1800 - total loss of sync. (It's detected as a 885).

Hardcoding the detect to return the correct type (887) causes the driver to work correctly for video (audio untested). This is very good news.

I'm installing a mix of 885/7/8 boards now looking for a better detection solution. I'm hoping to have a patch available in the next couple of hours.
