the function looks a bit complicated ..
what i about this ?

for(waitcount=0;waitcount<10;waitcount++)
{
   result = jumpshot_get_status(us);
   if ( result == USB_STOR_TRANSPORT_GOOD)
	break;

   msleep(50);

}
