I suggested '----' to floow the scheme for booleans and tristates:
    [ ] Selectable boolean
    < > Selectable tristate
    { } Selectable tristate, forced to at least M
    - - Unselectable tristate, forced to Y

So I think '----' is a nice fit for '--->'.
