I'm a little confused on why the buffered reads are giving the delta values whilst we have fixed up the sysfs reads to give the more useful position values (and hence not need to know when last read was). We should be consistent and give positions from the buffered path as well. Hence we can just check if (ret). Having done that we can also drop the return ret above out of the brackets and save a few lines of code by getting rid of the return 0 that follows.
