[Acer Switch 3] Synaptics touchpad not working with hid_rmi - causes kernel panic

Hi,

I'm writing here to report a bug with the Synaptics touchpad integrated in the keyboard of this 2-in-1 device.
The bug is found on my arch install, ubuntu live and fedora live.
This is my first bug report, so I hope to not mess things up. Sorry in advance for my mistakes...

[1.] One line summary of the problem:
Synaptics touchpad fails to be configured by hid_rmi on Acer Switch 3 (Intel Pentium N4200)

[2.] Full description of the problem/report:
Touchpad on the Acer Switch 3 is totally unresponsive after boot. Switching from advanced (I2C) to basic mode (HID) in bios gives no results. BIOS has been updated to the latest version but problem is still there.

We can get the touchpad to work blacklisting the hid_rmi module as it was posted on ubuntu forums, but it's a less than ideal fix since multitouch is not supported

I might be of course wrong, but I believe the fix could be as simple as adding the device identifier to hid-ids.h
