What's the dependency? There shouldn't be any issue applying input patches, just because there isn't an MFD counterpart. In fact, I would take prior acceptance of the child into consideration (would be like a +1 vote) when reviewing the MFD part. One suggestion however, I would ask for the DT binding and the driver to be separated, as per [0].
