Your patch [PATCH 2/2] fixes the problem.

Correct.

That caused a different problem of the CPE handler getting 
registered on multiple irqs.

I have a patch in the works to clean up ia64_mca_late_init()
so the handler only gets registered for irq 30.  I will post
it shortly.
