Friendly ping. Are there still plans to get this merged? Any unresolved issues?

I tested this on an Intel Atom E3827 based embedded board.

I also get this line in the kernel log and everything seems to work as expected:
[   13.095291] i801_smbus 0000:00:1f.3: SMBus controller is shared with ACPI AML. This seems safe so far.

Tested with an application that accesses custom I2C hardware attached to the SMBus.
