... this breaks hwmon_device_register(), which calls:

	return hwmon_device_register_with_groups(dev, NULL, NULL, NULL);
	                                              ^^^^
	                                              name

So you would have to change hwmon_device_register() to call
__hwmon_device_register() directly first.
