SUMMARY OF PROBLEM ------------------- Virtually all attempts to do modprobe, depmod, lsmod, or reading /proc/modules or trace process doing such results in a kernel hang and hence an unkillable process FULL DESCRIPTION ----------------- Started noticing that virtualbox-3.1 would not completely install because the installation got stuck on lsmod. However, in single user mode, lsmod, etc. do not hang, but then it does appear that kthreadd has created ecryptmgr_probe which I suspect is the cause of this softlock.
