fstab(5):

       defaults
           use default options: rw, suid, dev, exec, auto, nouser, and async.

       noauto
           do not mount when mount -a is given (e.g., at boot time)

So I assume "auto" is still passed when using "defaults"?

However, nowadays (since +10y?), debugfs etc. tend to no longer be
put in /etc/fstab, but be mounted automatically by some initscript.

In personal conversations with technical people, I call myself a hacker. But
when I'm talking to journalists I just say "programmer" or something like that.
