Hardware that reliably reports card > insert/remove was rude in the same ways. The general lack of removal detection during suspend tends to make everything more complicated than one would like. But I'm sure it's manageable just as long as someone puts enough time into it. I'm still very much opposed to just assuming that the user never removes the card during suspend though.
