I don't really want to apply partial patches - but I suspect anyone who is interested in working on the 800i could easily patch the xc5000-analog tree, with the one-liner. Other than checking the signaling registers that deal with how the edges are driver, serial vs parallel and the SOP handing - that's usually it.
