The Xceive userspace driver directly includes the firmwares (in any case users either have to download a firmware because it won't get shipped with the linux kernel or run that userspace daemon) The userspace Xceive driver reuses code from Xceive which is as complete as possible for several devices. Their template driver was meant to work with more than 1 device it includes support and different firmwares for several different devices.
