You might need an amplifier - at least the older KNC1 / Cinergy's are quite sensitive on the SNR, even when other DVB-C cards tune with no problem. If you happen to have Siemens DVB-C card and have a higher BER than ~500 on a frequency, chances are that the KNC1 can't tune - this appears to be the same with the Windows drivers. Anything with around 20 dB gain worked for me - however I have a TDA10021.
