I don't know if this is really related to my /dev/input/by-id issue, as
the udev stuff that I wrote about is not DVB specific. The above error
also isn't present here:

$ grep "KERNEL.*dvb" * | cut -f1
devfs.rules:KERNEL=="dvb*",
permissions.rules:KERNEL=="event[0-9]*", ATTRS{name}=="*dvb*|*DVB*|* IR *" \
udev.rules:KERNEL=="dvb*",
