Now I've finally got DVB subtitling working properly, after I figured out one has to set "subtitles.Language = 8" in /etc/vdr/setup.conf (or change the plugin volatile settings) to be able to record the finnish-language subtitles. Does anyone have ideas on why this design decision of needing to select beforehand what subtitle channels are to be recorded was made? I would imagine the subtitle channels are very, very small compared to the video and audio content, even if one channel has several of them. Is this because of limitations of subtitle demuxer software (like ProjectX)? I'd like to ask again, why are the DVB subtitles (after at least a few years of development) still just a patch/plugin to vdr instead of being integrated into the main sources, like other core DVB functionality? Is there some major disavantage to having them in the binary if you don't enable them? Now onwards and upwards, to try to get the rather ancient vdr-ttxtsubs 0.0.5pre2 to work with vdr-1.4.4 ... or are there newer, better ways to record teletext-type subtitles? -- /* * * Otto J.
